Terra Prime™ ~Prime Coat penetrates, bonds and stabilizes the sub-base layer of asphalt pavements, thereby waterproofing it before placing the hot mix asphalt.
Extensive testing, coordinated by the University of Texas at Austin and the Texas Department of Transportation, has determined that Terra Prime outperforms all competitor products as a replacement for MC-30, a cutback asphalt that is used globally. The Environmental Protection Agency classifies cutback asphalt as a volatile organic compound, which is regulated closely by environmental agencies worldwide.
MC-30
is laden with kerosene, a toxin, whose leaching and evaporation into
the ground and atmosphere have polluted the environment for years. In
addition to such concerns, MC-30 poses serious health risks to those
exposed to its fumes and potential flammability. The inhalation of
asphalt fumes produced by petroleum solvents can cause dizziness,
headaches, intoxication and vomiting. These fumes also contain known
carcinogens. Research has shown that other products, mostly
emulsion-based asphalt, can replace MC-30. However, none has proved to
be as effective as MC-30 — that is, until Terra Prime.
Terra Prime is
calculated at a rate of 0.42 to 0.6 gal/sq yd (1.92 to 2.74 L/m2) of
concentrate. To apply, simply dilute 1 part product with 5 parts water
in a holding tank, then evenly distribute it over the asphalt in two
passes. The use of a distributor or pressurized spraying system is
highly recommended in order to ensure efficient distribution.
Terra Prime is a polymer-based emulsion that requires water dilution. It is non-petroleum-based and eco-friendly, evaporating only water during the curing process and emitting no volatile organic compounds. It does not contain solvents or cause damage to roads or vehicles. It is easily applied, requiring no special equipment or handling procedures. Terra Prime is invented by the University of Texas at Austin, Patent (Pending) and licensed exclusively to Terra Pave International, Inc.
Block-Seal™ ~Compressed Earth Block Sealant & Stabilizer
Blocks that are produced by most compressed earth block machines are significantly denser and stronger than those produced by simply using water during the compression process of making compressed earth blocks.
Now,
compressed earth blocks can be made even stronger and more
weather-resistant by simply adding Block-Seal™ to the soil while making
the blocks. Shown in this photo, the block on the left was treated with
Block-Seal, and on the right, only water was used in the production of
the block.
The compressed earth blocks were then left in the open
air and, after a single rainstorm, the untreated block had been severely
damaged. Block-Seal™ compressed earth block sealant is an excellent
additive for all types of soil used in the manufacturing of blocks using
compressed earth block making machines. Block-Seal™ compressed earth
block sealant not only helps with the soil matrix but also decreases the
material’s permeability. Once the blocks are finished, they may be left
natural or painted. Block-Seal™ is treated with UV inhibitors to help
reduce the natural degradation of the compressed earth blocks.
Another advantage of using Block-Seal™ compressed earth block sealant for your compressed earth blocks is that the same material used to make the blocks can also be used as a bonding agent between your blocks. This simplifies the operation by using only Block-Seal™ compressed earth block sealant, water, and the method by which you produce your blocks.

Equipment and On-Site Assistance
Our
haul road dust control products are available in 55 gallon drums (208
liters) or in 275 gallon totes (1,025 liters), and can be diluted up to 9
times during an initial application, depending on soil type and desired
results.
The basic item of equipment that is needed for distribution of our haul road dust control products into the soil is a water truck with an efficient spray bar. Transfer pumps and spray bars are available at a minimum cost, or free when ordering by truck loads or containers. These items will help facilitate a quick and smooth transfer of the product from a water truck into the soil.
If
general reconstruction and permanent reshaping of a haul road is
desired, then other types of equipment, such as a motor grader and a
compactor are highly recommended. Information on specific application

Our Haulage Road Dust Control Program Pays For Itself
Although
there are many variables to consider in a haul road program, the cost
of the first year of a haul road dust control program with our haulage
road dust pollution control product will generally not exceed the
actual or estimated cost of daily watering operations. After the first
year, the cost of continuing maintenance under our Haul Road Program is
Guaranteed to be significantly lower than daily watering operations, and
over a period of several years, the savings can accumulate to as much
as 75 percent.
With
an initial application of our haulage road dust pollution control
product, dust pollution is immediately eliminated, and with occasional
maintenance applications, it is permanently brought under control. We
recommend that haul road managers undertake their dust control programs
with our haul road dust pollution control product in segments of
approximately one mile at a time. (Segments of less than one mile tend
to become more easily reoccupied by contamination that has been blown in
or imported by traffic from non-controlled areas.) With availability of
sufficient equipment and personnel, a mile of a typical haulage road of
approximately 20 yards width can be treated and finished in a single
day. The savings that are derived from using our haul road dust
pollution control product in the early stages of a dust pollution
control program can then be redirected into future segments, thereby
taking advantage of programming the product to pay for itself.
Our Haul Road Dust Control Program
There
are two phases in the haul road dust pollution control program. The
first is the initial application, and the second is the maintenance
program. An initial application of our haulage road dust pollution
control product will produce immediate results and a continuing
maintenance program will insure permanent success.
A substantial amount of product is used during the first phase in order to cover and control the majority of the dust. In the second phase of the program, the product is much more diluted, and therefore, significantly less expensive per square yard.
The
higher dilutions during the maintenance phase allows the product to
penetrate more effectively into the previously hardened road base as it
tackles newly worn areas or areas with new contamination blown in by the
wind or carried in by haul trucks.
First Year:
The
first phase of the Haul Road dust pollution control program will
consist of an intensive initial application that will be followed by a
series of higher diluted maintenance applications occurring on an
as-needed basis. In a typical haulage road environment, the cost of
controlling dust with our haul road dust pollution control product
during the first year is expected to be less than the alternative cost
of daily watering operations.
Second And Subsequent Years:
Maintenance
applications will continue throughout the second and subsequent years
on a gradually less frequent basis. There will be a continuing buildup
of our haul road dust pollution control product in the soil as the dust
becomes heavier and much less likely to become airborne. This trend
will continue into the future and will eventually reach a point in which
the budget for controlling dust pollution will only be a fraction of
what it was for daily water truck operations.
